For the third year running South Molton Pannier Market has won a top accolade, this time voted ‘best market attraction’ in Britain.
The prestigious title, previously held by Bolton and Belfast, was announced at the National Association of British Markets Awards at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham on January 30th.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our marvellous market has just won another national award!” said Melanie James, the market’s events and promotions manager.
The market was described as ‘outstanding’ and the judges unanimously voted that it is ‘Britain’s Best Market Attraction’. South Molton Pannier Market won the title ‘best community market’ at the national awards in both 2023 and 2024, making it a hat-trick of big wins.
Chief Executive of NABMA, David Preston, said at the awards presentation, “This twice-weekly market is the heartbeat of its community, supporting local charities and businesses while creating a vibrant and bustling shopping destination.”
“South Molton’s market is unrivalled in the quality and variety of its produce and businesses within the local area. It is constantly held up as an example of what a successful traditional market should offer.”
“This latest national award means the world to the market staff and traders and it would not have been possible without the amazing support we have from our wonderful customers. Thank you so much!” added Melanie James.
