Crafters have been busy hand making poppies across local communities including Chittlehampton and South Molton ready for this year’s Remembrance services, marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in World War II.
In South Molton, pupils from the community college have decorated the town - the school said, “SMCC students have created beautiful poppy displays for Remembrance Day, now showcased in the heart of South Molton. We hope our students feel a sense of pride when they see their hard work honouring those who served. Let’s take a moment to appreciate these touching tributes if you’re in town.”
In Chittlehampton, photographer Martin Ives said, “Some of the Arty Crafters with their fabulous poppy display now in situ on the Village Square pump. Many thanks to all those who contributed in different ways to make this happen. Look out for the banner to be hung over the Church lychgate before November 10th!”
