Road closures and traffic management on the A361 until November 1st

The new bridge and junction on the North Devon Link Road at West Buckland was set to open today for the first time (October 4th), according to the contractors Griffiths. It’s the latest milestone in the £67 millionA361 improvement scheme which is now running 10 months late.

In the October edition of Molton Monthly Magazine we report in more detail on the project, with an assurance from the contractors to us and our new MP Ian Roome that it will be complete by the end of October this year. However, the latest traffic management bulletin from the team at Griffiths has closures and traffic lights up to at least November 1st… which is not October! And an update from locals, apparently the junction is now in use as of Saturday, October 5th.

Also, following a freedom of information request to Devon County Council we received the following response - make of it what you will, “It should be noted that the contractual completion date of these works is December 2029 which takes account of the maintenance period of the landscaping and average speed cameras.”

We believe this is standard terms and conditions and relates to ongoing snagging, maintenance and landscaping.
